Today is our last day in Palolem on the south west coast of India.  We don’t have wifi access so no photos to post today, just this note to say we’re off to Laos tomorrow.

The monsoons have not ended in Goa so we have experienced torrential downpours while huddled in our beach huts.  There are no hotels on the beach here, instead, temporary beach huts are put up every fall.  Not well suited for rain, which has stuck around very late this year (we’re told).  The locals still fish from this beach so we have been able to watch the boats coming in with their catches.  They also put large nets out into the bay just outside our “beach resort”.  With the help of a bunch of tourist they drag the nets up on the beach in the early evening.  All good entertainment while drinking chai tea in the restaurant.  We did get a bit of sun today and the rain certainly hasn’t stopped us from swimming in the warm ocean or playing badminton on the beach.

We’ve made friends with some local beach merchants who were significantly better negotiators than Anne Marie and I.  Suffice it to say that we have made a fairly healthy financial contribution to the local economy and I hope you all like your beach chachkas.

We have a long flight to Laos tomorrow through Mumbai and Bangkok to Vientiane, Laos.   Hesquiat is looking forward to the movies and Bow is looking forward to the food.  Ever since our flight to Doha the food has been great on all the flights.

Till Vientiane…
